Root canal therapy (also called endodontics) has become an important tool used
to help prevent tooth loss. Individuals in the 40 years plus age group have
a high probability of either having had or will eventually require endodontics
some where in their dentition.
Of all the technical procedures we perform in dentistry, perhaps the greatest
improvements in the last decade have occurred in the field of root canals.
The long term success of the procedure in the prevention of tooth loss is extremely
high. The length of the procedure has significantly reduced and the physical
and psychological trauma has improved greatly allowing endodontics to now be
a major part of the services we offer.
